Perburuan saya mencari beasiswa dimulai setelah saya bekerja di sebuah perusahaan tambang asing di timur Indonesia. Saya ingat beasiswa pertama yang saya coba adalah beasiswa dari Australia, yaitu The Australian Development Program. Hanya bermodal keinginan kuat dan kepercayaan diri yang terlalu tinggi, saya mengirimkan lamaran saya tanpa dilengkapi beberapa dokumen yang diperlukan. Itu pengalaman pertama saya, dan hasilnya bisa diramalkan: gagal.

Percobaan kedua, beasiswa Chevening Award dari negara Inggris yang menjadi sasaran saya. Seingat saya, salah satu persyaratan beasiswa ini adalah menulis esai. Dokumen dokumen yang diperlukan sudah saya peroleh. Tetapi untuk urusan esai, wah, saya benar-benar cuek. Esainya saya tulis seadanya tanpa memperdulikan isi tulisan, struktur, dan lain-lain. Hasilnya lagi-lagi bisa diramalkan: gagal deuy!

The International Leadership in Education Program (ILEP) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and is implemented by IREX (the International Research & Exchanges Board), a Washington, DC based non-profit organization. ILEP will provide 52 teachers from the Near East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The program will consist of a semester-long academic program at a U.S. university, including coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, teaching strategies for their home environment, educational leadership, as well as the use of computers for Internet, word processing and as tools for teaching. The semester-long program, which will commence in January 2008 and conclude in June 2008, will also include an internship at a secondary school to engage participants actively with the American teachers and students. Trips to U.S. cultural sites and academic support will be provided for participants throughout the program.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS MUST BE:

Secondary-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom disciplines including:
English as a Foreign Language;
Social Studies;
Civics;
Mathematics; or
Science.
Citizens of the Republic of Indonesia

Qualifications: The primary bases for selection are scholarship and a commitment to management consulting. Other qualities such as initiative, character, responsibility, and community service are also considered. The applicant must:

SEARCA values not only graduate education but also other forms of scientific knowledge/information dissemination vital to agriculture and rural development in the region, hence the Travel Grants Program.

Southeast Asians working in a development-oriented institution or graduate students of reputable universities in Southeast Asia are eligible to apply for a grant of up to US$1,200.

Intended to benefit qualified agriculture and agriculture-related professionals, social scientists, and graduate students, the travel grant provides limited support to qualified applicants who will present scientific/policy papers in international or local scientific fora. The topic of the paper must be along the thrusts of SEARCA and have regional relevance.

The travel grant enables grantees to find a venue for discussing with other scientists and scholars developments in their respective disciplines. SEARCA may also produce articles or publications out of the grantee’s presented paper, whenever appropriate and feasible.

King Saud University, yang merupakan universitas tertua di Arab Saudi, mulai tahun ajaran 2007 membuka peluang kerjasama dengan Indonesia dalam bidang Sains dan Teknologi pada program pendidikan pascasarjana. Dari sekitar 300 beasiswa yang tersedia setiap tahun di KSU, 10 %-nya akan diberikan untuk mahasiswa Indonesia. Beasiswa tersebut disediakan untuk 20 orang mahasiswa program S2 dan 10 orang mahasiswa program S3. Kuliah disampaikan dengan pengantar bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga diminta untuk menjadi asisten peneliti.

2007 CIPE International Essay Competition

Theme: Engaging Youth in Reform

Eligibility
Open to students and young professionals aged 18-30. Special weight will be given to essays submitted by citizens of non-OECD countries.

Young people can be a powerful force for change! As future reformers, young people (18-30) have innovative ideas on how to solve the political, economic, and social problems facing their countries. However, they often lack the voice to bring these ideas to policymakers. Simply, young people are often regarded as recipients of reforms, not active participants in the reform process.

CIPE’s essay contest gives you the opportunity to share your ideas about citizenship, democratic and market-oriented reform, youth leadership, and the ways that your country can create avenues for youth to participate in the political and economic spheres. We encourage you to get thinking, get involved, and use your own experiences to develop concrete solutions to these development issues.

A $1,000 honorarium will be given for each winning essay

Programme outline

The programme is 2 years long (80 Swedish credits or 120 ECTS Credits), and consists of 1½ years of full-time coursework (60 credits) and one semester thesis project (20 credits).

The programme begins with three compulsory courses covering the fundamentals of digital and radio communications. Following these courses students may specialize their studies into one of the following two profiles:

Information Transmission and Processing (I)
Wireless Networks (W)

Additionally, students are given the opportunity to take one or two classes on project management, leadership or intellectual property rights which will be counted towards their degree. Included in the curriculum is the opportunity to follow some courses at Ph D level.
